Despite significant opposition and delays, Houston-based NextDecade has secured $5.9 billion in financing to commence construction on the Rio Grande LNG facility in the largely undeveloped wetlands of the Rio Grande delta, aiming to become one of the world's largest gas export terminals.

Callon Permian LLC has been penalized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for hazardous emissions from their thirteen facilities in the West Texas Permian Basin, requiring corrective measures expected to reduce volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions by over 1.2 million pounds and methane emissions by over 4.6 million pounds.
