Daily Data Dump

The good, the bad, and the ugly of Texas oil production.

Best of the Best 🏆️

Every week, we sift through our proprietary data to find the best performers in Texas.

Never Quit 😢

Similarly, we find the oil producers who need a little help (i.e. call Barrel Hub).

If you’re wondering how we get this information, we’re under strict orders from the CIA not to disclose that (but if you want to know you can go here).

Lone Star Stories

A first-of-its-kind report by the CDC, using federal workplace data from 2014 through 2019, has revealed that the U.S. oil and gas industry has witnessed 470 worker deaths, with vehicle crashes and impact by objects as the leading causes, especially in the leading oil-producing state of Texas, which recorded 219 deaths.

JSX, the “hop-on” jet service, is launching nonstop flights from Dallas and Houston to Midland-Odessa, starting January 15, 2024, catering mainly to the Texan oil and gas workforce, with introductory fares at $279 and $309 respectively, including various amenities like free Starlink Wi-Fi, onboard cocktails, and snacks.

Reader Question of the Day

What research is being conducted on using microorganisms to improve oil recovery efficiency?

Scientists are exploring some tiny helpers to get more oil out of the ground—microorganisms! These little creatures can do things like changing the oil’s viscosity, making it flow more easily. It’s like turning a thick, sticky syrup into water that can move freely. This process is known as Microbial Enhanced Oil Recovery (MEOR), and it’s like using nature’s own tools to help get to hard-to-reach oil.

Researchers are studying different types of microorganisms to see which ones are the best helpers in oil recovery. They’re also figuring out the ideal conditions for these tiny creatures to work effectively. It’s all about teaming up with nature to make oil recovery more efficient and environmentally friendly, ensuring we make the most out of every drop.
