Lone Star Stories
Civitas Resources eyes acquiring NGP Energy Capital's Permian basin operations for nearly $5 billion, a move that could amplify its current $5.6 billion value. The deal, expected to be announced soon, could bolster NGP's effort to launch its 13th natural resources fund.
Texan policymaker, Rob Henneke, nudges Biden to ease the grip on oil drilling, attributing climbing costs to these restrictions. As the U.S. cozies up to Venezuela for oil supply, Texas oil rig operators find themselves in the cold.
Reader Question of the Day
What is the API gravity of crude oil and how it is calculated?
API gravity is a measure used to compare the density of petroleum liquids to water. If a petroleum liquid has an API gravity greater than 10, it is lighter than water. The calculation for API gravity is done using the following formula:
API gravity = (141.5 / Specific Gravity) - 131.5
The specific gravity used in this formula is the ratio of the density of the oil to the density of water, both measured at 60 degrees Fahrenheit (15.56 degrees Celsius).
